Humans in artificial intelligence

Q What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?

The motivation for applying for this program was that I wanted to form personal connections with human resources in other fields and conduct joint research. In today’s world of increasing expertise in each research field, the knowledge and skills that individuals can acquire tend to be narrow and deep. However, since the research subject itself requires knowledge and skills in a wide range of fields, I would like to develop personal connections through this program and develop it into joint research.
I think the appeal of this program lies in the three points of support for students, such as opportunities to interact with researchers outside their own research fields, conducting joint research, and supporting research activities.

Q What is your expertise and how do you want to develop it with the program?

I’m specializing in cognitive developmental robotics. By reproducing the human development process by robots and machine learning, I aim to understand and apply the cognitive development process. Since I believe that the human development process depends on the body and environment, I mainly deal with humanoid robots. I’m good at machine learning and physics engine simulation.
Through this program, I would like to incorporate the perspective of the brain science field into my own research that I have been working on from the perspective of the engineering and information fields.

Q What are your future dreams and goals?

My dream for the future is human outsourcing with artificial intelligence. With the development of artificial intelligence, changes and loss of human social roles have become a hot topic. Furthermore, I am very interested in how “human” and “human beings” will transition as the physical boundaries become ambiguous due to the shift to cyber and cyborgs such as science fiction.
The goal is to engage in joint research through this program, cultivate the ability to grasp research areas from multiple perspectives, form personal connections with human resources in other fields, and collaborate with research institutes and companies outside the university. It is to gain practical experience. Through these, I would like to develop research on cognitive developmental robotics and eventually lead to future dream.
