When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Q　What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?

My research focuses on deep generative models and mobile robots, particularly the interaction between human beings and robots. In other words, only focusing on engineering technology seems not enough. To get more familiar with humans and make more human-like robots, I want to obtain knowledge from other departments, like biomechanics or informatic technologies. Humanware program offers me this opportunity. It built a platform for students in different fields to integrate their expertise and give birth to new discoveries.

Q　What is your expertise and how do you want to develop it with the program?

I am not sure whether I have been an expert in my field yet. But I am learning about deep generative models, reinforcement learning and robot systems now. If possible, I want to discuss with other members in HW program about these techniques.
Of course, I will appreciate it if there are integrated research which can utilize something related to my research.

Q　What are your future dreams and goals?

Robots are developing but still need evolutions. Currently, they still cannot enter our life due to a lot of restricts. I want to realize the goal of letting robots live with us under the help of interdisciplinary research. Also I am eager to build some real products which can be beneficial to our society.
