Q　What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?

My motivation is to gain new aspects of thinking and knowledge that I cannot obtain only from my own specialized research through discussions with people who are highly motivated and knowledgeable in various fields. I feel that HWIP offers many opportunities to meet and discuss with people who are knowledgeable in other research fields and industries, which is the appeal of HWIP.

Q　What is your expertise and how do you want to develop it with the program?

My specialties are vision and remote robot control. I’m interested in the characteristics of human perception and locomotion and the factors that give rise to them. In the program, I can meet people with various skills and knowledge: some are studying human mechanisms, some can analyze humans, and some can come up with models based on the analysis results. I hope to engage in friendly competition by sometimes referring to their knowledge and sometimes offering my own knowledge.

Q　What are your future dreams and goals?

For now, I would like to observe science fiction worlds and the process of getting there and the changes in human thinking and behavior afterwards. Various predictions have been made about future technology and its effects on human society through novels, animations and the other works. I would like to observe the actual changes that science and technology will bring to human beings. I would like to be a part of the foundation of such technology.
