Understanding and exploring humanity through the integration of culture and technology

Q What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?

The appeal of this program lies in providing opportunities for interdisciplinary researchers to interact in order to address human beings interdisciplinarily, and supporting the creation of new value through such interactions. As society grows, humans are increasingly being liberated from singular values or theories, and there is a growing need to understand and apply humans in a multifaceted manner. By bringing together researchers who can analyze humans from the perspectives of life, information, and cognition, it should be possible to extract the roots of humanity and expand them through technology. In this program, I believe one can learn to turn such technologies into new values and contribute them back to society.

Q What is your expertise and how do you want to develop it with the program?

My field of study is in 3D Computer Vision and Computer Graphics (3DCV/CG). As the real world exists in three-dimensional space, this field involves capturing physical objects and making them editable in computers, as well as outputting computer-generated information as tangible objects in the real world. Simultaneously, it also contributes to understanding how humans model real-world objects through vision and engage in interactions.
The technologies in the 3DCV/CG field have recently begun to be applied in aesthetic expression areas such as design and art. I believe that the advancement of 3DCV/CG can expand the possibilities of human expression. Design and art have historically influenced human life and humanity by interacting with culture and technology.
In this program, I aim to develop new 3DCV/CG technologies that scientifically explore the aspects of life, cognition, and information regarding humans as the subjects of expression. I aspire to foster creative activities of humans in the three-dimensional space of the real world by promoting the development of innovative 3DCV/CG technologies.

Q What are your future dreams and goals?

I want to realize a world that connects culture and technology, expanding communication, and ultimately life, through diverse and rich expressions and interpretations.
