Seeking “interesting”

Q What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?

Since childhood, I have always made choices at crucial junctures in my life based on which option seemed more interesting. The emotion of “interesting” serves as a powerful motivator in human behavior, yet truly finding something interesting is not always easy. Without understanding the background knowledge, factors, and processes behind it, one may not even reach the stage of developing an interest. I was drawn to the interdisciplinary lectures and research activities in the HWIP program and applied to this program because I want to learn about the “interesting” aspects of various fields.

Q What is your expertise and how do you want to develop it with the program?

My expertise lies in AR/MR technology aiming to merge physical and virtual spaces, particularly in researching projection mapping, which freely manipulate the appearance of physical objects. Vision is said to account for 80% of human perceptual information, but it is far from perfect and is known to have many biased characteristics. Through this program, I aim to overlook human perceptual characteristics from various fields such as bioscience, information science, and cognitive science and understand them comprehensively. By incorporating this understanding effectively, I aspire to create user-friendly systems that can innovate and transform the way people live their daily lives.

Q What are your future dreams and goals?

My dream is devising innovative systems that focus on the user, aiming to revolutionize their daily lives. Additionally, I aim to become a professional with advanced expertise and a multidimensional perspective, essential for this endeavor.
