I hope one day to join the ranks of internationally-active researchers.

Q: What was your motivation for joining the program?

I had known I wanted to complete a doctoral program, but I was unsure if I could keep my motivation for the 5 years it would require. It was then that I learned of a program starting that provided a 5-year integrated curriculum, which was encouraging to me, so I joined. As the content involved biology, something I have had an interest in, the choice to join was clear.

Q: What are your future dreams and goals?

Simply put, I want to make the internet more convenient and accessible.

Q: How are research activities typically carried out in the program?

Program participants gather each week to interact and share the latest results of our research. These gatherings help us in our integrated research activities as we work with one another as research partners. My knowledge of biology is limited to my studies in primary school, so actually it can be quite difficult to keep up. However, recently I feel I am understanding more, little by little.

Q: What are your impressions and thoughts about the program?

It seems to me that much of the curriculum and many of the events, such as debates, were designed with future international activity in mind. When I think of my own future plans I’m grateful to have these opportunities, and I want to make the most of them. Occasionally, I look at professors active on the international stage, and I can imagine taking my place among them one day. These opportunities and insights have really helped shaped my future plans.
