Q: What was your motivation for joining the program?

As science is a field that is always developing, I felt that studying solely in one field was not enough. If you want to find solutions to big issues, you need to collaborate with scientists from many different fields. I joined this program because it provided an opportunity to meet a variety of scientists and to develop joint research projects, as well as to take courses in other fields.

Q: What are your future dreams and goals?

Atomic structures are the basis of all living systems. I am interested in the fundamental causes behind animal behavior, but I also realized that pursuing all processes from the molecular level to the organism level would be too broad. Thus, I decided to proceed one step at a time in pursuing my dreams. At Sydney University I studied animal behaviour, in other words living systems at the organism level. Now, I am studying molecular structures. After receiving my doctorate, I would like to integrate my studies of these molecular and organism-level phenomena, and explore their mutual interactivity.

Q: What about the program appeals to you?

There are many opportunities for students and faculty to communicate with one another. Everyone studies, researches, and carries out other activities together. The chance to engage in compelling integrated research in this great environment is what appeals to me.
