A person who touches the edge of the world of science touches the edge of the world of magic.

Q What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?

Being a student of Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, I am particularly interested in machine learning and sensing technologies. By incorporating these technologies in to other research areas such as robotics and life sciences, we can widen their applications as well as increase the quality and the effectiveness of them. However, the main limitation we face when carrying out such interdisciplinary research is that the lack of knowledge of interdisciplinary studies between the researchers in multiple disciplines. Humanware innovation program opens a new gateway to the vast knowledge of the interdisciplinary studies while providing the opportunity and support to become a researcher in the frontier of science and technology.

Q What is your expertise and who do you want to develop it with the program?

My fields of expertise are real-world sensing, context recognition and machine learning. My work is basically composed of developing new techniques to gather, process and analyze sensor data and using machine learning to incorporating them to various applications. For my graduation thesis, I did a research on indoor event recognition employing active sound sensing. I wish to use the sensing and recognition techniques that I developed during that research to increase the awareness of the robots of their surroundings.

Q What are your future dreams and goals?

My dream is to work as a researcher to discover new technologies that will contribute to the development of science and benefit the man.
