A program that offers a world of the unknown

Q What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?

My major motivation was to gain insights from people working in disciplines vastly different from my own. There are people in the same lab as me now who I would certainly never have come across outside this program. Just being with such people allows me to access knowledge, ideas, and viewpoints that I would never have come up with on my own. It is also extremely stimulating and encouraging to be able to share conversations with colleagues who, just like me, are working toward a doctoral degree.

Q What is your expertise and who do you want to develop it with the program?

I am currently affiliated with the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, but I originally studied physics in the School of Engineering. I think my combination of knowledge cannot be found in any single area across the three graduate schools involved, so I would like to contribute what knowledge and ideas I can.

Q What are your future dreams and goals?

I don’t just want to contribute to society, I want to be a scientist who can make things that everyone is interested in.
