Interview

Sorry, this entry is only available in 日本語.

There’s no sense of being forced to participate: I feel fulfilled despite the hard work.

Q: What was your motivation for joining the program?

I want to become a researcher with a broad and flexible mindset not tied simply to my own field of specialization. I applied for this program in anticipation of the opportunities to interact with researchers from a diversity of fields. In the program I can engage in genuine dialogue on research-related matters with domestic and international students with a wide variety of specializations, and learn what it takes to exercise leadership in such an environment. In this sense, the program has exceeded my expectations.

Q: What about the program appeals to you?

In addition to the interaction with people from diverse backgrounds, I really appreciate the high degree of freedom the program offers. The compulsory requirements for completion are kept to a minimum, leaving students with plenty of space to take the initiative in planning their own activities. There’s no sense of being forced to participate: I feel fulfilled despite the hard work.

Q: What are your future dreams and goals?

In the future, I hope to mature into a researcher who is trusted by those around me and equipped with flexible thinking and a broad perspective that is not tied solely to my field of specialization.
I would like to pursue research that it connected in some way to people’s everyday lives. Specifically, my current goal is to develop support systems that enable people to live more comfortably within their homes, and to apply those systems within my own home so I can enjoy a life of leisure.
