Interview

Sorry, this entry is only available in 日本語.

I want to explore fields I’ve never encountered before!

Q: What was your motivation for joining the program?

I wanted to know more about the research that people do in fields different from my own. When you work only in your own graduate school and major, both your knowledge and your circle of acquaintances can become quite narrow. I wanted to meet and become friends with people from many different backgrounds, and engage with fields of research I’d never encountered before. This was my major motivation for joining the program.

Q: What are your future dreams and goals?

My goal is to contribute to society through research on the use of microorganisms to produce useful materials. To do so, I hope to engage in analysis of the phenomena taking place within the cells of living creatures, and explore the potential of microorganisms.

Q: What about the program appeals to you?

The major attraction is the ease with which I can interact with students working in fields that are different from my own. In addition, many of the activities in the program are optional, so it is possible to possible to be a very active participant at times, and concentrate on your own research at others. I like the fact that students have a high degree of freedom to participate in line with their own needs.
