Interview

I want to acquire a broad range of knowledge and applied skills, and enjoy my research to the full!
Q: What was your motivation for joining the program?
I was captivated by the program’s ideal of interdisciplinary research transcending conventional boundaries. I had often heard that knowledge and techniques from other fields would be essential to future research in biology. I thought that this program would enable me to broaden my own knowledge base while at the same time contributing to advancements in other fields.
Q: What are your future dreams and goals?
I hope to have a career in research. I want to acquire a broad range of knowledge and the skills to connect different types of knowledge in practice, and to enjoy research to the full. I want to develop the ability to recognize certain findings as “unusual” or “remarkable,” and to follow them up rather than skipping over them.
Q: What about the program appeals to you?
I appreciate the access to experts from many different fields. Your understanding becomes more clear and detailed if you ask well-informed people rather than seeking answers on your own. This program offers an environment in which it is always possible to ask. I also like the fact that participation in most events is optional, allowing students to choose how to spend their own time.
