Interview

Sorry, this entry is only available in 日本語.

It provides excellent curricula in and out of the program.

Q: What was your motivation for joining the program?

As someone who has worked on interdisciplinary research before (through affective computing), I understand that the best way to find the most inventive solutions is to try to view matters from different perspectives. This is why I always make a point of keeping myself updated with recent trends in various research fields, to see if we can combine techniques to make them better. It helps that I really enjoy different branches of science. I took this program as a chance to expose myself to innovations in Engineering and Biosciences in order to gain this new perspective. With the help of my peers, I hope to find interesting new research problems and develop innovative solutions.

Q: What are your future dreams and goals?

I would like to do research that will lead to the development systems to contribute to society, especially to the field of medical care. When I return to Philippines, I would like to continue my research and to help improve technology in my home country. And I hope I encourage aspiring young scientists to pursue a similar goal.

Q: What are your impressions and thoughts about the program?

The program offers the opportunities to collaborate with some very creative young students or researchers who find socially relevant research problems and come up with solutions. The financial support from the program also ensures that we can focus on our research instead of looking for multiple scholarships or part-time jobs. Furthermore, it provides excellent curricula including research seminars and training sessions with peers in and out of the program.
