I want to have a broad view of the world beyond my own specialization
Q What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?
I applied for this program because it offered an opportunity to develop a broad outlook through interaction with people working in different fields. When I was planning my progression to graduate school, I decided that gaining such an opportunity while still in my 20s was sure to be useful to me in later life. I think that the attraction of this program lies in the fact that it offers not only financial support, but also a great variety of opportunities to improve oneself.
Q What is your expertise and who do you want to develop it with the program?
I specialize in information science, and my current research involves using sensing data on indoor environments to achieve more efficient and effective air-conditioning control. I think that knowledge of human cognitive and sensory functions is essential in order to understand what makes air-conditioning comfortable for users, so I hope to absorb such knowledge through this program. I also hope to develop a multi-faceted understanding of my own research by exchanging opinions with colleagues working in different disciplines.
Q What are your future dreams and goals?
My aim is to build on my experience in interdisciplinary research and pursue innovations that will change society.
