Interview

Sorry, this entry is only available in 日本語.

I want to develop assistive robots that everybody feels safe to use.

Q: What was your motivation for joining the program?

I am studying robots that help people to walk. These robots are connected to their human users in complex ways, and researchers need expertise not only in robotic engineering, but also in bioscience and cognitive science. I thought that by joining this program I would be able to interact with researchers from a variety of fields and gain useful hints for my own research.

Q: What are your future dreams and goals?

I want to make assistive robots that everybody feels safe to use. To do this I need to find ways to eliminate risks such as falling over, and to make users comfortable.

Q: What about the program appeals to you?

I appreciate the opportunities for extensive discussion with people from other academic fields. I was also attracted by features such as the international internship system and the financial support offered.
