I want to grow as an individual and chart my course for the future.

Q　What was your motivation for joining the program, and what about the program appeals to you?

This program offers an environment in which I can cultivate the capabilities required to become a fully-fledged researcher; especially the ability to uncover and solve problems and to communicate them to others. This is what makes the program so attractive and is the reason why I applied for it. I also find it extremely stimulating to be surrounded by so many other highly motivated students. I believe that we will be able to raise our research capacity through healthy competition with one another.

Q　What is your expertise and who do you want to develop it with the program?

I did my undergraduate studies in biology, and my major strengths are in experimental biology fields such as molecular biology and biochemistry. In my current laboratory, however, we use not only the methods of molecular biology and biochemistry, but also theoretical approaches employing mathematics. In this program I hope to develop a combination of experimental and theoretical knowledge and ideas that will connect my biological research with studies in informatics and engineering.

Q　What are your future dreams and goals?

After completing the program I would like to continue working in a scientific field, but I haven’t decided exactly what to do yet. By communicating with a diverse range of students, faculty members, and people from the corporate world, and by delving deeper into my own research, I hope to find a future pathway that matches my aptitudes and interests.
